Elenore and Park

This week I finished Elenore and Park. I thought it was interesting, sad, and clever. The book is about two teenagers, Eleanor and Park living in Omaha Nebraska in 1986. Eleanor has crazy red hair, and has just returned to her house after being kicked out for a year by her step dad. Park is a half Korean comic book nerd, who is just popular enough to not be picked on. One day Eleanor sits next to Park on the bus, and over time fall in love. I loved this book. The premise is good, the characters are well developed, and the story does a great job with the split narration. Overall this was a great book and I would recommend it to everyone in our class.

Absolutely True Diary Of A Part Time Indian

This week I finished The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part Time Indian. It's about a Indian kid named Arnold who lives on a reservation in Washington. One day Arnold decides that he wants to go to a better school then the one that is on the reservation. This causes all sorts of issues, involving his fellow indians rejecting him, and his new class mates felling threatened by him. This book was great. It was funny, had a nice pace, and despite a somewhat disappointing ending, was pretty well written. I would recommend this book to all in our class who have not read it.

I loved this book. The characters where interesting, the pacing was great, and the switch between narrators worked very well. The book is about two teenagers, Eleanor and Park living in Omaha Nebraska in 1986. Eleanor has crazy red hair, and has just returned to her house after being kicked out for a year by her step dad. Park is a half Korean comic book nerd, who is just popular enough to not be picked on. One day Eleanor sits next to Park on the bus, and over time fall in love. This book was clever, interesting, and fun to read. I would recommend it to everyone in our class, even if you don't like love stories, I would still recommend it to you.

Please Ignore Vera Dietz

This Week I read Please Ignore Vera Dietz By A.S King. I thought this book was clever, interesting, and witty. It is about a girl named Vera Dietz, who's best friend Charlie just died, Well best friend and worst enemy. Throughout the book she explains who Charlie was, what happened to him in his last six months, and how he died. I would highly recommend this book to most people in our class. I think that the set up is interesting, and the directions it takes are very interesting. 

Character description: Because with Charlie, nothing was ever easy. Everything was windswept and octagonal and finger-combed. Everything was difficult and odd, and the theme songs all had minor chords.

The dead will tell

This book was interesting. I personally I am not a very big fan of the mystery genre (It feels some what formulaic, an overworked cop is tracking down a killer, commonly serial killer, and needs to stop them before they strike again. The follow one lead which looks like it may lead to an arrest but turns out to be nothing. In a twist the cop suddenly figures out who the murder is and has a final showdown with them, resulting in the cop winning and finishing the book ), so this book was hard for me. It's about an over worked cop (cough* cough* formula much cough* cough*) who is working on a murder investigation that turns out to be tied to another murder from thirty years ago. Soon she is racing to find the murderer before he or she strikes again. This book was ok. It wasn't the best book I have ever read, but it wasn't Twilight either. If you enjoy the mystery genre then I would recommend this book. It is interesting and has some clever twists, although I will say the formula is annoying at times.

Fairest

This book was interesting. It wasn't as good as the other books in the series but it was ok. If you have no idea what I am talking about this book is the prequel to the Cinder trilogy which I would highly recommend. If you want to look at my review on that then click here. This book is about Queen Levana, the villain in the Cinder trilogy. This is the story of how she became a violent and cruel Queen she is today. The story shows her rise to power starting with the death of her parents and ending with the murder of her husband.  Personally I didn't think this book stands out very much against the books that it was inspired by. It is still clever and interesting, but as a stand alone book it doesn't do very well. I would recommend this book to anyone who has read the Cinder trilogy (which I would strongly recommend most people read) and is looking of something while waiting for the next book to come out.
